Portland Newborn Photography: The "Full Hair Doll" Session in PDX

As a Portland newborn photographer, I see a lot of beautiful babies, but every so often, a little one walks (or is carried!) into the studio who looks like a literal porcelain doll. For this recent session in PDX, we were blessed with a baby girl who had the most incredible, full head of hair I have seen in a long time!

Capturing the "Doll-Like" Details

When a newborn arrives with a full head of hair, it becomes a focal point of the session. My goal is always to highlight these unique features while maintaining a timeless, high-end aesthetic.

For this "doll-themed" shoot, we focused on:

  • Soft, Neutral Palettes: Using creams and whites to ensure her dark, lush hair really popped.

  • Macro Photography: Capturing those "up close" details of her hair and eyelashes—the tiny things that change so quickly in the first few weeks.

  • Artful Posing: Keeping the poses simple and "doll-like" to emphasize her delicate features.

Why Professional Newborn Portraits Matter

Many parents in the Portland metro area wonder when the best time is to schedule their newborn photos. Ideally, we like to get you into the studio within the first 5 to 14 days of life. This is when babies are at their sleepiest and most flexible, allowing us to get those precious "tucked in" poses that showcase their personality (and their hair!) perfectly.

Serving Families Across the PDX Area

At SunnyMelon Photography, I pride myself on providing a luxury, stress-free experience for families throughout Oregon and Washington. Whether you are looking for newborn photography in West Linn, Lake Oswego, or Beaverton, my studio is equipped with everything needed to make your session a success.

From professional lighting to a curated wardrobe of wraps and headbands, we take care of the details so you can simply enjoy the moment with your "living doll."
